Comrie Croft has a small eco camp site that caters for tents only. The site is co situated with a farm house and a Lodge which are also bookable.
As for the camping itself it is in two distinct areas. One a small field that has 12 pitches and a birchwood forrest with 13 pitches.
I was in the forest and was allocated a pitch on a level clearing on quite a steep hill.
The pitch itself was quite muddy at the back but my tent was small enough that I could just avoid it.
There was a fire pit lined by stones about 10 feet away down the hill. My nearest neighbour was about 30 yards away up the hill and even then I could only see the top of their tent. Very secluded.
Firewood was for sale at £5 a bag but there really was no need as I found plenty of dead fall wood to be found and a little bark from one of the silver birch trees made an excellent fire starter.
Toilets were unisex with both sexes using the same showers and loos (well I hope that was what was meant to be the case) but this didn't cause any problems. They were very clean on the visits I made with fresh hand towels and plenty of soap. Dish wash was outside along with a recycling point and again there was lashings of hot water and soap and pot scrubbers supplied.
The site also has a meeting room and shop and breakfasts are available if required.
Cost was £8 per head. All in all this was one of the best nights getting back to nature I have ever had. The weather was glorious, the bugs nonexistent and the beer just right.

Make sure you book as when I arrived around 5pm there were only 2 pitches left.

Yip Will do ...Make sure you book as when I arrived around 5pm there were only 2 pitches left.
How close did you manage to park the bike to your pitch
All the parking was in front of reception but if camping in the woods you could drive up and drop your stuff and then return your car or bike to the car park as there is no parking on the hill overnight. I was in the first pitch up the hill so it was quicker to leave the bike at the bottom and carry my stuff up. I'm not sure of the quality of the road so careful on the bike.
If you are in the field then it adjoins the car park so no problem there. You can't park alongside the tent so no using the land rover as an awning support.
If you were on your own I would recommend the woods but the pitches I saw are small so no big tents (there may be bigger ones further up the hill) and the neighbours far away so probably not best for a social weekend away.
The field is a more sociable place and caters for bigger tents and has a large communal fire under a parachute (I think small individual fires are allowed by the tents in old car wheels). It's also right next to the loos and showers wheres some of the hill pitches are a good trek away.
The field is to the left of the arrow and the woods directly above the building arrowed (reception and loos).

now thats my sort of campsite!!!... many thanks for posting it up, pitty more campsites dont take notice of this as there must be a market for it.
the idea of a chain of eco-campsites would make a cracking franchise!
Ah well, sadly not for me! My bike never leaves my sight when I'm camping! Fire comes out of my gas stove so no need for a bonfire to cook on!
I can't decide if it's I'm too old to do this eco thing or too young to seek solitude on a campsite! Sorry folks.![]()
Found this in the pocket of my bike jacket. It's a layout of the pitches in Comrie Croft
