Under EEC law you cannot be decimated against like that (I know B&B's and other 'service' industries are covered by the The Equality Act (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2007, so a campsite would be too), if you get problems inform the local councils trading standards department immediately and help get it stamped out.

I would also go so far as to say please name and shame any campsites!!

For more info and the full legal bit check with stonewall (stonewall.org.uk)

I don't see what your sexuality has to do with any camp site owner, i certainly have never been asked what sex we are when booking a site for two people nor indeed a family of four when the kids were small

Some sites do ban single sex groups, which i agree with, but this is more to do with partying types rather than orientation

I would just book your sites for two adults and two kids and leave it at that, i'm positive that you won't be quizzed about your sexual preferences, unless of course you raise the issue yourself

When people ask me if I have any spare change, I tell them I have it at home in my spare wallet.

I had this problem when booking for me and a mate at a campsite in the lakes. It appeared that as two blokes travelling together we were a single sex group and therefore unwelcome. Had we been a couple however that would have been ok.

I like him.. But not that much
I went to the zoo recently. The only animal there was a small dog. It was a shihtzu

Dave, I think we need a "CAMPSITES TO AVOID" forum especially if as the OP is correct and some campsites are discriminating against single sex couples... Though I'd love for them to do it to myself and Jenna

I know of a few sites that don't allow same sex groups. As Rog said it's to do with the partying types. But saying that I know of one site in Yorkshire that won't allow same sex groups of any age. Me and 2 mates turned up and were turned away. I was 47 at the time, my mates were 51 and 42. We weren't exactly geared up for raving the night away. Then a couple of months later me and a mate arrived at said C/S and were allowed to stay as we were backpacking.

so you can be a family if youre a man+woman+kids, but youre not a family if youre two women. (or men). i would think thats quite illegal these days.

Thats just so wrong ... I've never had any trouble with all male groups - on mo bikes -- ok we are mostly old gits .

But have had one instance of raised eyebrows and a few questions when I took my daughter camping when she was younger - which in some ways is no bad thing - but was annoying .. I've been a single dad for 10 years.

Agree with what the others have said. Your sexuality is totally your business and should not affect the services available to you, which should be the same as those available to the rest of us.

Here's an extract from Wiki about the Equality Act:

The Equality Act 2006 (c.3) is an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom covering the United Kingdom, and covers the following areas - the creation of the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), replacing the current equality commissions - the Commission for Racial Equality, the Equal Opportunities Commission and the Disability Rights Commission, the outlawing of discrimination on goods and services on the grounds of religion and belief (subject to certain exemptions) and allows the Government to introduce regulations outlawing discrimination on the ground of sexual orientation in goods and services in both Great Britain and Northern Ireland (the Sexual Orientation Regulations 2006) and a provision relating to the creation of a public duty to promote equality on the ground of gender.

Which led to the introduction in 2007 of the The Equality Act (Sexual Orientation) Regulations are secondary legislation in the United Kingdom, outlawing discrimination in the provision of goods, facilities, services, education and public functions on the grounds of sexual orientation.

    Seems clear enough to me.
