Default Camping in Western Lakes - with Kiddies

    Hi

Im new to this site - but have just begun to venture further afeild from our "usual" site - "Fisherground" in the Western Lake District ( near Eskdale ) Have to say thought that if you are looking for a brilliant site - ( no reservations taken ) just turn up and pitch - ( check website on Bank holidays ) then this is an awsome site - Kids love this place with its adventure playground and rafting lake ! - but appart from that there is gladdly nothing in the way of entertainment - no EHUs on smaller field ( the nicest ) but a great and very much "away from it all" location - site has its own railway stop off - on the Eskdale minature steam railway that takes you the 7 or so miles from the costal village of Ravenglass to the lake district hamlet of "boot" with two fantastic pubs - a wonderful waterfall woodland walk and some of Englands finest scenery and walking. An awsome site that positively encourages CAMP FIRES - ( yes everyone takes part ) - Shower and toiled blocks cleaned every hour or so - ( but basic and always busy ) - but the site - its just so lovely !

    I take it it's this place Camping at Fisherground: Tel - 01946 723 349

It looks fantastic and will certainly be on my list of places to stay in the lakes.

I like this quote on the website
"Please do not be tempted to use your sat-nav's as they will bring you over Hardknott Pass - not a road I would want to drive by choice!!"

If that's the case I will use my SatNav
I went to the zoo recently. The only animal there was a small dog. It was a shihtzu

Boris - it IS the place and YES its fantastic ! - the owners are very friendy - ( if a touch business minded } - but they keep a tight ship - and you never get any bother on there - well run would be the understatement of the year !

Best camping site in the Lakes is my opinion ..... and very much tillted in favour of the camper ( sorry no caravans LOL ) - great site - and long may it stay that way - If only it had a lake nearby ( having said that stunning Waswater is only about 4 miles away )
