Default Small Campsites in SW France

Can anyone tell me the best place to look for good quality small campsites in France please (particularly South West if possible). All the websites seem to point to large eurocamp type sites. Are there any good books/guides/websites etc.?
    Thanks

We'vde just traveled through SW France and as long as you're reasonably close to the coast campsites are easy to find. Municipal campsites are good and a lot cheaper then the bigger commercial sites

Thanks for your help. I was thinking more inland, Gascony area. Also we like to book ahead so was thinking of websites or books we might look at.

Municipals are cheaper than the big sites but not usually cheaper than the smaller ones.

I have to say that while I sometimes wished I had done a bit of research first, I have done quite a bit of wandering around this Summer, and I find that come time to look for a site, I press the appropriate button on my Garmin sat nav and look for the closest site in a "nice" area. I then trundle down to the site and have a looksee. I did this for 8 nights in August on a trip to Italy and back again, and only had one site I jibbed at as it looked too upmarket for me, and one site was not the greatest value at ***8364;14, but that was the first night anyway

I don't seem to have any campgrounds on my Garmin. Have you loaded them from elswhere?

Still no small campsite guides for France anyone? Maybe I should write one.

Garmin don't put campsites on their GPS's for some reason.

I used the AA Camping and Caravan France book. Bought it in Smith's I think. have a look at this one I used the Rogers Spanish campsite guide when we were there and it took us to some excellent sites.

If you go onto Amazon.co.uk and put camping France 2009 in the search box it brings up a load.
