Tudor Caravan Park Slimbridge Gloucester - Camping & Caravan Site in beautiful Gloucestershire
Tudor Caravan Park is one of the best located caravan & campsites in gloucestershire.
A quiet country caravan site right alongside the Gloucester-Sharpness canal,
an easy 5 minute walk from the world famous Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust Centre at Slimbridge.
We stayed at this site for a long weekend in early October.
The site is very close to the Slimbridge Wild Fowl and Wetlands Trust Nature Reserve and backs on to the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal.
Despite the name the site accept tents, caravans and motor homes.
It's fairly small at 75 pitches but they do have a rally field that will take a 100 or so extra.
They welcomed us with a Tipi and a wood burning stove as long as there was no chance of the stove burning the grass. We assured them there was not.
They have just opened up a new toilet / shower / washroom block, which is fantastic. The old one is retained as well, but quite how that coped with 75 pitches is beyond me! Anyway don't need to worry about that any more.
They have all the usual facilities, mentioned the shower block, but they have laundry, washing up, etc...
However one of the best parts was the welcome. Lovely friendly site owners / managers. Nothing was too much trouble. We were given info when we arrived on the site and local attractions. We were pointed to an area to pitch on and could pretty much choose where to go. Plenty of room though.
Right next door to the campsite is a pub (Tudor Arms), I'm sure it's a great pub but we didn't get on really well with the over priced food and nowhere to sit outside with a dog unless you wanted to be with the smokers.
So we went across the road to the Black Shed. This was basic compared to the pub, but they had a drinks licence, welcomed dogs, the food and service was excellent, and the prices were great. I would highly recommend the Black Shed to anyone.
Overall an excellent site and I believe open all year so we will definitely be back.
