I've bought an AA guide to UK campsites, whih is pretty good, but I was wondering if there's a guide available to buy which covers any free campsites in the UK, or even just where it's legal to camp?
Cheers in advance.

Yeah, but here are free campsites in the lakes, and I was wondering if there is any guide to such places nationwide. I haven't had much luckGoogling it...
I would certainly interested in that also. If a guide is not available perhaps postings of such sights.
You are still able to Wild Camp in Scotland, just a few rules you need to follow to reduce the impact by yourself and others.
Leave Camp as you found it:
Wild Camping:
- Remove all litter (even other peoples). Think ahead and only carry in what you are prepared to carry out. Do not bury or hide litter under stones as it can harm wildlife and offends those who visit after you.
- Choose a dry site to pitch on rather than resorting to digging drainage ditches and removing vegetation and boulders. In replacing boulders, return them to the same place, the same way up.
- Ask nearby residents before pitching if you wish to camp near houses.
- Remember vehicles have a great impact on vegetation. Park on hard ground or on a safe metalled area. It is better to walk to your car than drive to your tent.
- Avoid sites that are at risk of being overused. Congregational roadside camping can cause significant problems.
- Take particular care with toilet hygiene.
- If you are just looking for a place for a few hours sleep, then pitch late, leave early and be unobtrusive.
- Pitch well away from the road - out of sight and not near to a campsite.

They allow wild camping as long as campers should leave these wild places unblemished by their visit and protect them for future visitors and campers.
