Default New camper - looking for dog friendly campsite!

    Hi all,

So new to all this camping malarky, and with new tent arrival imminent desperate to get away from it all this weekend. So me and my 2 four legged furry friends are looking for a dog friendly campsite close to Cheltenham area. Prepared to travel for a couple of hours and would ideally love to have some kind of water nearby for the pooches to swim in.....recommendations please!

Sorry I missed this as I have been away. Did you find anywhere?
I know its a bit late now, but at Slimbridge there's the Tudor Caravan and Camping Park.
Fantastic facilities and dog friendly, lovely people and comes highly recommended by me.
    Tudor Caravan Park
Hope that helps for a close getaway in the future.

    Hi,

Thanks for the recommendation will check this out. We have just got back from our first camping trip...we went to fforest fields, bullith wells way - 2hours door to door. Excellent camp site, very friendly, very idyllic and great fun for the dogs (who particularly loved the lake!). All in all a complete success...now plotting the next trip

Just remembered there's also Disserth camping site as well not far from Builth Wells they are a great site, small, good location, quiet and dog friendly.

Hey, I know you've already been on your first trip but I can see you're hooked - aren't we all! Thought I'd let you know I found a fab website where you can search for campsites where dogs are allowed and all kinds of other stuff and I am a bit in love with it - it's called Campingninja - they're new on the scene but have such a lovely to use website and get more campsites all the time - think they have quite a few near your area too.

Check it out - campsites with dogs allowed within 100 miles of cheltenham (guess that's about 2 hrs?): how cool is that??

    Good luck

I'm afraid to admit that my geography is SHOCKING, and I have no idea where you are! There may well be a Forestry Commission site near you, and there are plenty in the New Forest and surrounding area. For years we've camped there (often with more than 2 dogs!) and found the people friendly and the area stunning. Roundhill and Setthorn are especially nice sites, with a river close by, and plently of woodland to explore in. There are horses and cows allowed to freely roam, and dogs are reccommended to be on leashes on the actual site, unless well trained on callback.Just be aware not all have facilities (a "natural site" is one without showers+toilets!)
