First post so Hi to everyone on the forum

I was thinking of taking some time out to go camping around the states this year. Maybe for a couple of months or so.

Anyway, I just wanted to know what the camping regulations in the states are? I'm guessing they probably change from state to state. In general though, is it possible to just pitch your tent anywhere? Obviously I don't mean in the middle of a street or by the side of a road. I was thinking more along the lines of wilderness areas.
