Camping near the Olympics in London

Hi. I'm new to this.

Does anybody know of a god quality campsite near the London Olympics. Hotels are far too expensive.

I notice that a lot of fly-by-night sites have been set up. It seems that anybody with a bit of land is setting up a campsite. Does anybody know of one that has decent facilities, not just a field next to the M25?

Hi Dave

It's now a bit of a mine field with so many campsites available. Even though they are much cheaper than hotels, you still want to get value for your money and be sure that the site is managed well.

I would take a look at CampLondon2012 I haven't seem them before, however, they seem to have thought of everything (24-hour security, health facilities, entertainment etc.) and they are directly on the Central Line and therefore about 20 minutes Olympics stadium.

If anybody has other ideas please do tell.

An update for everybody still looking for a campsite during the Olympics - the CampLondon2012 have an offer on at the moment (not 100% sure when it ends?) so I would book a place now before prices go sky high as we get closer to the Games. Hope that helps...
