Default Leonards Cove, Blackpool Sands (Nr Dartmouth)

We camped here above Blackpool Sands recently.

Dartmouth is ten mins away, as is Slapton Sands. Blackpool sands 5 min walk away and the camp site has all the usual facilities overlooking the ocean.

Loved the restaurant which serves until 9pm weekend, out back are some benches and a take away window where the will sell you traditional fish and chips which are gorgeous.

The staff are really friendly and helpful. The campsite is next to Stoke Flemming with a good pub serving excellent food and beer. Just a couple of minutes drive is another great maritime pub with sea views again. They serve ocean specialities and a good ale.

I'd say the highlight was having grilled breakfast down at Blackpool sands right on the beach front. It has a southern France feel with pines etc... providing the weather is right!

    Default Great Photo

We used to regularly camp here, but as fishermen as well. There's nothing like spending a night on Blackpool Sands with the surge gently lapping up on the shore and then hearing the line run!

It has improved massively over the years as well, with the local cafe and facilities being exceptional for an out of the way beach place. I would recommend this area to anyone, however at time of writing the weather is not great (December 13th and howling, wet and cold)! Roll on summer!

    The large photo is excellent!

Cheers, yep it must be ace for fishing there as it's pretty quiet at the best of times. I'm hoping to get back soon.

Hoping to visit Bigbury and Dartmouth soon so will maybe check this area out again, loved the breakfast on the beach.

Then again, we still haven't broken out of spring, this week seems to be set for more rain... I'd prefer we get the rain now and then a lovely summer.
