aha, so weve all been conscripted........

i also like this mix of views in the new forum, it'll be a shame if it gets too one sided although in my experience, with something as general as camping, it cant really. theres only so many differences groups can have with eachother, the kit, the tents, the rain, all the important stuff stays constant. look at the HuBB forum, thats really for round the world traveller types but theres tons of useful info on just about everything.

i camp on the bike and i camp with the car, and they are two totally different scenarios. on the bike im alone with a smaller tent and one man load of cooking and sleeping gear, but in the car ive usually got boy and a heap of stuff because we can carry it.
so im interested in the difference between motorcycle camping and bicycle camping, at a quick glance the same, but in experience totally different again.

I've been into bikes for 26 years now and had over 30! Never really been into camping as a holiday with bikes. Been to loads of bike rallies with a small tent though. A bike loaded to the hilt with camping gear cramps the handling somewhat!! Not my idea of fun.

I'm not against bikers at all... ... ... but could someone explain to me why a lot of you biker/campers like to have your bike ticking over whilst you are de-camping. It's a pain in the ar5e at 8am.

You and me both mate and I am a biker.I just start it up when I am ready to go then ride away steadily. No need to have it warming up for ages.

Absolutely! I wouldn't want to be up at 8am full stop!

    Welcome Mish.

On the bikes warming up at 8am front. I am pretty much a start and go sort of chap. I have even been known to (as this morning as I was camped on a hill) to freewheel the bike down the lane and start it when it ran out of steam.

Of course there are just as many car / motorhome drivers who spend the early morning banging doors and yelling at each other as they pack up. I suppose there are just some people that are ignorant of others needs in all walks of life.
I went to the zoo recently. The only animal there was a small dog. It was a shihtzu

I have just joined the forum having just found. It looks as if it is full of helpfull details. I camp on a R80RT BMW bought from new in 1986.My wife has had to stop riding now due to arthritis but we still camp with a car. Just came from a Bank Holiday camping on the bike.
