What site is this. I'm always on the lookout for bike friendly sites.
I went to the zoo recently. The only animal there was a small dog. It was a shihtzu

I've combined biking & camping for over 20 years now.I confess to prefer camping with other bikers either the BMW club or the UKgser club .

To be honest one of the reasons I prefer it is going back to the comment about bikers starting their bikes early although I haven't really noticed that to be honest .What I do find is for a weekends camping most arrive late Friday afternoon no steel poles etc.

What I have found though whilst camping on my own is being woken by the noises of car doors being continually slammed idiots who have no idea the noise a bag of steel tent poles make being carelessly tipped out and sorted & thats not forgetting the over excited kids of course .

Grumpy old git me God no

just a word on loading your bike-
just because you got a big bike doesnt mean you can carry more stuff. i happen to have a big bike that can carry a lot, but if you look in your handbook you will find a max load or at least a max kerbweight. subtract the weight of the bike from the kerbweight and that is how much you can carry.
so you can see a 150kg 125cc with a max kerbweight of 350kg can carry the same as a 250kg "tourer" with a 450kg kerbweight. obviously all bikes are different and how fast you can go loaded up does depend on your engine size, but you get my point.

this isnt usually a problem when your on your own, because most bikes are made for two so youve got at least another persons weight capacity. but it can limit your ginsters carrying capacity when you bring the other half, so get them riding lessons for xmas, or some decent walking shoes.

Last night, left the XRV working bee thingy and headed north to Suffolk for the last few hours of my mates (Hedingham Owners Club) sidecar rally. It tipped it down all night, this was my home for the night. Warm and dry when I woke, takes about one minute to pack up, but a git to get in and out of.

Kudos my man. You wouldn't catch me out in this weather with a bivvy bag and tarp. It is a bit colder here though as we have ice in the mornings now.
