    Thumbs up first camp trip

Hi All, just got back from my first trip and i loved it but im also knackered.Kept waking up really early, dont know if it was the road noise on campsite, the light coming through tent, or because it was a novelty. One good thing about getting up at 5 am was seing the rabbits and squirrels running around.
Was lucky with the weather(got a bit burnt tho) and have a few mozzie bites(took spray, forgot to use it).
Hubby had a few too many beers and decided to challenge the kids to a race, then fell over, cutting his leg
He then decided to have a torchlight barbecue, which was fun but the stand slipped and we ended up scorching the new table
Double airbed was not a good purchase for us as i ended up rolling to the middle all the time cos of weight difference, so will probably get 2 singles instead.
Also i should have looked around the site toilet blocks more because i was boiling the kettle to wash up outside the tent and as we were leaving i used another block and found a washing up area(typical)
What is grey waste and black waste??? They had signs for these but i dont know what they are
Blimey, that was a long post, all in all, had a great time.

That sounds like a standard first camping experience, you're now fully blooded!

I gave up on airbeds when I was a child and camped with my parents, just climbing onto a moving pile of jelly wears me out and is too much like being at sea in a heavy storm for my liking.

Sometimes it's worth laying on the airbed and getting someone to let out air until you are nearly touching the ground but not quite. Much more comfy and manageable to my mind.

Lessons learnt then. Don't put BBQ on the table, hubby needs to lose weight or you need a different mattress arrangement.

    Hi DB

Before you give up on air beds have a look at the Intex beds, they make all types of standard beds but also make a range of frame beds. We tried loads of different types before byeting the bullet and getting one, as they are a bit pricey, but they are fantastic. A bit large, so you need to check the size against your tent, but they dont sag or dip and you can alter the pressure between the two half's to get it just right. Im over 6 ft and around 18st but my better half is only a wee little thing and we have no problems at all with the Intex and possibly a better nights sleeps than when at home. www.only-airbeds.co.uk Have a look at the Deluxe Frame or Comfort Frame one's, the Comfort Frame is better as the bed is not so high and fits better in a bedroom pod.

As for waking early try draping a lightweight dark sheet over your bedroom pod this will help keep the light out when the sun comes up.
