Default Is it worth being a member of the Camping and Caravanning Club

So do you think it's worth being a Camping and Caravanning Club member?

This should be an interesting discussion.

We're members but am probably not going to renew this year.
Decided that we don't use the C&C club sites any more and the magazine is really geared to caravans so doesn't quite float my boat any more.

We also decided that we'd subscribe to the Camping magazine instead to give us a view of what's going on in the camping world.

So what do you reckon. Is it good value?

I was a member when we had a caravan because we used to use their certified locations. I wouldn't bother if I was a camper.

I was for 1 year but the ex didn't like the CL sites and neither of us liked the "proper" sites, to sterile and regimented. Went to one CC rally thought I was back in the scouts which I loved when i was 15 but not at nearly 40 (yes it was that long ago). Caravan gone now, got a Mitsubishi delica with awning, Bike and canvas so won't be entertaining joining again. Each to their own though, it suits some people.

I guess they can be seen as regimented, on other hand they give you decent facilities which can be worth a great deal. You pretty much know what you're getting all the time.
However you can't just pitch where you want and they can get quite busy.

    Default CCC sites

We used to use the proper sites in a caravan as kids and loved it cos of the organised setup of the sites as far as toilets & amenities were concerned.

I think it was easier for my Dad to 'know' that all would be ok when we got there

The last few years in the old caravan have been spent just touring and setting up when & whereever

That's been kicked into touch now so it's just the rare occasion in the car but mainly on the bike which leads to being able to camp almost anywhere. It's just the sense of freedom a bike gives you
