Hi,
just thought I'd drop a line to introduce myself to all of you forum members.
I'm Pete, a southerner, living in the northwest for the last six years...but been made to feel very welcome by some of the friendliest people in the UK!
Have just started to pitch a tent again after a weekend away with family... had a ball!
So have bitten the bullet, and got a Zenobia 6, with proch, from Go Outdoors (please don't flame me for this, the store in Blackburn were very helpful, and listened to my needs and made a few suggestions, before coming to this decision!), of course it's their own make, but the price was right, and with the few other bits and pieces I've got, I'm almost set to take the kids and my little Westie, up to the Lakes for a few days. It's only an hour or so from where I live - in fact I think I'm well placed for some great times ahead under canvas, well, not canvas now is it?, but you know what I mean!
Hoping to pick up a few tips and recommendations from you guys and girls along the way.
I'm up for suggestions on the best family sites in the Lakes, have seen a few that will probably fit the bill, but nothing like hearing it from the horses mouth!
Look forward to joining in the fun.

Hi Pete, Welcome to the forum.

Thanks Dave.
Well, it's a fine day, so I've just spent the last hour getting to grips with the Zenobia...
Initial impressions are good... it seems easy enough to pitch, although I can imagine it wouldn't be quite as pleasant if the weather was a tad more unsettled.
A great idea to have the instructions printed on waterproof material, and sewn into the bag... I can see thnigs have moved on since the last tent I had as a lad!
The porch is a great addition, and will be a real bonus on the days when you can't get outside so much, as well as creating a space for wellies, shoes and the like.
Now to take it down.
Oh, and I thought I would be having the help of my 7 year old daughter, but she seems to have the attention span of a goldfish, and after an initial burst of enthusiasum, has dissappeared somewhere... so the tent was erected and taken down with one person.
Me.
Lesson learned I suppose!

I also got a HiGear 2 man XL... In for a penny, in for a pound, as they say! And I'm using it as my bedroom whilst I stay at my folks on the south coast this week...hardly wild camping, I know, but The kids have got the spare room, and I'm under canvas... The weather Gods are shining down on me at the moment, and I had a comfortable nights sleep... Listened to the foxes snuffling around outside the fence last night, the next door neighbours coming in from the pub, and the seagulls woke me up at the crack of dawn... But apart from that, I'm loving it...
