Hello people.
I purchased a Vango Alpha 200 tent from outdoorwold.co.uk a couple of yeard ago and haven't had the chance yet to pitch it...
I'm planning a trip to Picos de Europa, Asturias, Spain next month and decided to pitch the tent in my backyard just to see how it all goes together.
I found out after pitching the tent that the fiberglass poles were bent near the junctions due to the curvature when mounted... specially those from the porch which must do a semi-circle.
Now, due to my location and to the time since buying the tent (2 years), it's not feasible to claim with Vango or Outdoorworld although I think I'm entitled to do that...
I went out and tried to get a few new poles, but all I found were larger diameter... I ended up buying a beach wind protector for 8 euros which had a set of poles the diameter I needed and fitted those instead, after making them the same lenght as the original porch poles.
Thing is, the main poles of the tent are also bent-marked altough not as heavily due to the smaller curvature they have when assembled...
I think they will not give up under strong wind... will they?
Has anyone seen such a thing? I thought fiberglass was as strong as steel...
While looking for the poles, I checked out Decathlon and they stock hollow aluminium poles of the same diameter I need, but I backed out from buying them because I feared they would also bent...
Opinions?
Thanks![]()
