When ours was pitched in the gales the long tentipi pegs were rocking loose and then bending before popping out. Nothing I could do would keep them in so I ended up finding some round bar about 18" to 2 foot long and hammering that up the inside V of the Tentipi pegs to give them more length and support. I know the deltas aren't that long but it must have been really windy to pull them out.
I went to the zoo recently. The only animal there was a small dog. It was a shihtzu

Yeh the problem was the ground that they were in. When pitched it was fine, but during the storm with the water it created a muddy mess. The soil was very clayey and claggy with water soon pooling on top, probably due to the volume. With the Delta pegs you could see a whole circle around the peg moving when the wind was hitting the tipi, it was squelching up and down and just getting pulled through the earth! It wasn't necessarily getting pulled up and out just forward like a plough.
The pitch was a right mess, like a ploughed field when we left!!! I should have taken some pics or video but I was busy keeping hold of my tipi!

Soon as i have bought a tent, the wire (useless pegs go into a box with my other stuff (plastic biccy box) also in there 20 or so of the 8" and the longer plastic ones off ebay, they seem to stay put, with them being cheap enough you can belt them well into the ground, ive found that a tent puller or loop of tent cord on them is a must to get them out again, other than that a hacksaw and a nice smallish branch of a tree works well cut them to any length you want and they if you cant get them out again, just belt them further into the ground so they will rot away, and not damage anybodies groundsheet who come along later to that pitch, nothing worse than finding tent pegs in the middle of a pitch your about to use

Hell was full, so I came back!!
