I haven’t been camping for donkeys years, and have to confess that I never really cared for it very much. It always ended up being a cold, wet & quite miserable experience!

But without camping I’m missing out on such a lot of trips which I’d like to do, so I’m giving serious thought to giving it another go. Can anyone give me some basic tips on how to make sure I enjoy (or at least can bear) my camping trips? And when going on a bike, where do you put your wet gear?
    hi guys

I stumbled across this the other day when i was trying to buy a new tent:
    www.millets.co.uk/ed/camping

I thought it was a pretty good all round guide what do you guys think?

Also im looking to buy a good 4 man tent does anyone have any suggestions?

Hope to hear from you soon

thats quite good as a beginning but dont forget they are also trying to sell you kit. if you follow it to the letter, eg the packing list, you will take 80% more stuff than you need. a peg extractor? use a loop of string. plates and bowls? why? a bowl will do everything a plate will. drink wine and beer from a mug dont bother with glasses too etc. a scouts gaz burner cooks as good as one of those big square cookers with the internal aerosol shaped fual can, but take 1/4 of the space and weight and fold into a small pan.

lists are ok, i make a list before i go of everything i take, then when i get back i adjust it for stuff i used, didnt use, and wish i'd taken. replace stuff not used for stuff you wanted and within a few trips you will have a good idea of what to bring.
