    Default Lantern Mantle

    Hi everyone,
i need a bit of help i have just bought a small propane lantern and i cant seem to get the mantle to fit the burner so there is no flame escaping out the bottom of the mantle and as it has a glass shard there cant be any flame jetting out. I've never had one before and have a few attempts with no success.

any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Will.

    Hi,
They can be a bit fiddly to do......
Remove the glass first and carefully fit the mantle, making sure it's fully down on the collar, you should be able to tighten up the retaining string to keep it in place. When your happy it's on right,(before you turn the gas on) set fire to it!!! After you've done this make sure you don't touch it as it's very fragile now.
Refit the glass and it should be ready to go.......

    Hi,

I'm just trying to visualise what you've got........

I would think you need to cover the collar if there isn't a groove for it to fit in, but look for a groove or waist section.

The other hole your talking about I'm not sure about????

You certainly shouldn't have any flames escaping from the sides...

thanks for the help, the problem was i didn't have the mantle tight to the burner and the flames were escaping though the bottom.

    Thanks for all the help,
    Will.
