    Default Transporting Camping gas question.

We are off at the weekend for our first trip with a new cooker and a patio gas size bottle. Having never travelled with the gas before apart from the trip home from the shop
do we need to have a sign saying we are carrying gas? Is there an amount of gas you can carry before needing signs?
    Thanks
    Andy

I recently travled from Spain through France to the UK then from Uk through Belgium, Holland into Germany and then back to Spain. I contacted the ferry companies and the relevent customs and excise departments in all the countries and was given the answer.

" You are allowed to carry one (1) gas bottle up to 12 kilo in your car, it must not be connected to anything and securely fastened. The same goes for a caravan. There is no need to inform the ferry companies unless you have more than one bottle. The authorities in Europe all complied with the ferry companies except for France who stated that they would prefere it if the gas bottle had a safety cap ( which i purchased from the local caravan shop for a couple of £ ). Otherwise they really diddn't want to know but thanked me for asking.

Hope this helps and have a good trip.

    Alan.
