Default University project - Heated Fleece

    Hello,

I am in my second year at university, studying Business Management and for an enterprise module we decided to create a heated fleece, and wanted to see if you had any feedback for the product, and if were kind enough to answer a few questions.

The fleece would look like a normal fleece, however on the inside there would be three zip up pockets ( One of the back large and one on either side), in each pocket there will be a gel pack, which can be heated in boiling water and will generate heat for 2-3 hours. The gel packs will be reusable, and to reheat them all you need to do is pop them back into boiling water for 10-15 minutes and reinsert them into the pockets. At present the only heated jackets and fleeces rely on lithium batteries, which are heavy and are very expensive to buy.

    Questions:
    Age:
    Would you buy this product?
How much would you pay for a product like this?
How often do you go camping?
For how long a period of time do you go camping?
What age of camper do you think this product would be most suitable for?

It would be most appreciated if you could kindly answer these questions, and if you had any general comments on the product, even if it is to say that you don't believe it's a good idea!

    Thanks in advance.

    Questions:
    Age:
    JUST over 50

    Would you buy this product?
    No

How much would you pay for a product like this?
    I wouldn't

How often do you go camping?
5-6 times a year. Mostly summer but not averse to winter camp especially if it's forecast for sub-zero.

For how long a period of time do you go camping?
    Mostly long weekends

What age of camper do you think this product would be most suitable for?
it's not suitable for any age - see below.

It's not a good idea. A battery powered one is much better -they are already marketed by a number of companies; or just slip any one of a number of gel or other hand warmer products into a fleece pocket - look up zippo and peacock handwarmers for example. Also look at heated clothing targeted at motorcyclists.

    Thanks in advance.
    You are welcome.

    Hey there Joel,

Sorry this reply is late, thought I may add some insight.

    In answer to your questions:

    Age - 32
Would I buy the product - Possibly (need to take into account the convenience of a lithium based heat source). However that said, if time isn't an issue then looking to save money is always nice. Might also be useful for extended trips if batteries fail, you could heat the gel packs using a stove to heat water?
How much would I pay - It's unbranded and has no historical brand values to follow, so probably £30-40. The same price as a lower end Berghaus fleece.
How often do I go camping - A few times a year, I prefer Hiking and Rambling day trips.
Period of time spent camping - Usually weekends, or long weekends.
Age to suit the product - I think you have to take into account another market, Hikers and ramblers. The age really varies, probably from 30 - 60.

I have mixed feelings about a product like this. It's something you could potentially do yourself from home. It needs another factor that makes it more unique. Brands such as Columbia already have some great alternatives, so you'd have to compete with the likes of them. Although many of their items are very expensive. You also need to take into account "breath-ability" of the material.

Hi, Friend, I think this is a little hard for me to finish this survey, I am sorry for this.
There is a must for you to own a strong marquee for your outdoor games, especially if the place you live is always coming with heavy wind.
