I don't think Gary's doing them at the moment. I've had sporadic contact with him PM but I think he's a busy bee so can't always reply.

Has anyone heard anything about these thermal carpets recently?I will be camping next month and would have liked to try one out so long as they pack down to a reasonable size.

Unfortunately I think Gary's pulled out of this market. Real shame as I think it could have been a real winner for small carpets for small tents.

Hi Guys,

No im still about just been tied up with other things sorry. The carpets didnt work out for many reasons, size and cost being the two main one's. Most people couldnt justify the cost over the standard carpets so on a commercial basis they just didnt stack up. I can still make one offs as I have done for quite a few people but the cost in doing this compared to mass runs is high. Size wise the 2 carpets for a Norfolk is about the same as the outer canvas to give you an idea and a carpet for a Vango Force 10 is slightly larger than a double sleeping bag but quite a bit heavier.

So we have decided to make them for the Royce tents that we hope to have ready for this season but not for the mass market as planned.

I would strongly urge people NOT to send any money to 2gocampin (Gary) in return for promised goods.

I was drawn into a thread on another camping website, where Gary (using the same username) offered a tent for sale. I had no reason not to trust another camping enthusiast, so I paid £850 cash into his account on 11th March. The tent never arrived and he would not let me collect it. He will not answer calls or emails and he won't pay my money back.

Please let this be a warning to everyone out there; people who post on camping websites are not always as honourable as they might seem. Please don't fall into the same trap as me and don't pay any money to anyone without first holding the goods which are allegedly for sale.

Another member on the other camping website also fell into Gary's trap last year and it took him six months and no end of worry to get his money back. This person has contacted the police to shed some more light on activities of this character. I will not name him or post address details, but intend for this to be a general warning to save you all the worry I now have because of '2gocampin' and his all-too believable camping posts!
