Hi all, I need some pointers!. I'm after a double for me & the wife and 2 x singles for my kids, 2 & 3 yrs old. Iv'e been eyeing up the Coleman Hampton bags but read on here that their pack size is huge. I'm fairly experienced when it comes to hiking & wild camping but the 'family' angle has thrown me!!. They've got to be warm, reasonably priced and not too huge if thats possible!!. Any help gr8ly appreciated....

That would be gr8, many thanks!. I'll keep an eye out for him and bother him when he appears!!. Cheers!!.![]()
We don't use sleeping bags for family camping its much easier to use blankets and duvets , as long as you put a fleece blanket on top of what you are sleeping on (eg airbeds) it keeps the cold at bay, and your duvet on top of you should be fine as long as you aren't winter camping.
yep, we had blankets etc for our kids (5 and 3) until recently
Main reason we moved over to bags was bulk and the youngest was so mobile she kept waking herself up once she had escaped from all the snuggly blankets. Got a Vango kids mummy bag and a couple of Outwell kids square bags (£10 each in Yeomans sale)
The Outwells are ok, and can be opened out to become quilts if needed, youngest loves them. The Vango is pretty warm and a miniature version of an adult bag. Eldest likes it but youngest finds it too constricting and wont use it
Biggest learning for me was letting the kids pick their bags, or they wont use them (maybe that say more about our parenting?)
Best money spent was on 5cm adult self inflating mats for the kids, they are warm without hassle and the kids can roam about in their sleep and not come off them. We had a double airbed for kids before and I wouldnt go back
For family use blankets are probably the better option imo
