    Default Jetboil PCS

I bought a Jetboil purely on a whim last winter. I already have a Trangia stove and i used to have an MSR Whisperlite stove which runs on petrol.

First of all i do not work, or have anything to do with Jetboil but this is without any doubt the best stove that i have owned, far better than the others.

The Trangia is good, but it is not very powerful methylated spirits has not got a lot of energy, it takes a long time to boil water. The MSR was also good and a lot more powerful but it is very on or off and it does produce a lot of soot, also i am not too happy with the whole concept of having a bottle of petrol close to the burner.

Now the Jetboil is as fast as the MSR if not faster, it is incredibly clean it produces no soot whatsoever, the burner plate and heat exchanger never have any marking from the flame whatsoever.

It all folds inside itself and it runs on any threaded canister such as Coleman. These are available in 100g, 250g or the one i now use 500g.

The design must be very efficient because it is very frugal on gas use, the cannisters seem to last an awful long time.

You can boil 500ml of water in about 2 minutes, i use the Wayfarer boil in the bag foods, when the water is boiling slip in the food pouch, simmer for 6 to 8 minutes, and then use the water to make coffee. You have a really good hot meal and a hot drink in 8 to 10 minutes. I like this system a lot it makes a lot of sense.

So i would really recommend the Jetboil a truly excellent camping stove.

    Default jet boil

I agree that the jet boil is eccellant, I have the standard unit and the 1.5 ltr pan and the frying pan, the only fault that I've found is that the frying pan is not very none stick, so 9/10, but shop arround prices for the standard unit vary from £50 in some internet camping shops to £100 in certain motorbike touring accesseries shops,
    cheers

I was intrigued by the new Jetboil Helios:

But at $149 in REI in the US, and £149.99 at the cheapest (I could find, anyway), I went off it

Hmm, $150 = £94 + VAT = £108 (or £110 at 17.5%) and no customs duty to pay (value under £120) + shipping, could save around £30 on rip-off Britain pricing..
