Well... so how was the show and is it worth you going over the weekend?
Absolutely yes is my verdict, even if the weather is inclement.
I've just come from the show myself so that I can give you a first hand report! We got kicked out at 5pm!
So I'm writing sitting in my Tipi with the rain pouring down and the wood burner going. Some food is cooking on the wood burner so whilst I have some time I thought I'd write up what I thought of the show.
We decided to make a weekend of visiting the show, so my wife and I left the kids and the dog and decided to find a camp site near to the show ground. We could camp on-site at the show but wanted somewhere quieter.
We ended up at the Swiss Farm International camp site, just outside of Henley upon Thames, which is a larger camp site than we would normally go for, but they would take us at this time of the year. I'll do a separate review of the site later, but just to say it was a top notch site and is highly recommended.
So to the show. The weather wasn't looking great and we were a little later setting off. Just as we arrived at 11am it started to drizzle!
As we already had tickets we were ushered to another queue and were quickly inside the grounds. The stands seem to stretch as far as the eye could see in all directions. We were given a brochure detailing the layout of the show and planned our attack.
The site was split in to the following broad areas but they seemed to merge in to one.
Boats and Watersports
Extreme Sports
Cars and Bikes
Holiday Homes
Britain and Abroad
Outdoor and Country
Motorhomes and Campervans
Caravan and Camping
There was also a display area that had various activities you could take part in whether that was Mountain boarding or kite flying!
We spent as near as damn it the whole day there and could have spent longer if we had arrived earlier. We were a little disappointed that when we had finished doing the rounds of all of the stalls by about 4pm that some had shut early. Some stalls therefore lost out on purchases that we had planned to make and were going back to them later in the day to pick up! Ahh well their loss.
There was certainly a good variety of stalls selling all sorts and we all found stalls to our interest.
We purchased a fair bit when we there, our spend I think totalled close to £500, with a likelihood of increased spend when further research had been done on various items.
The weather wasn't great but the majority of the time it wasn't raining , there were a section of stalls in an undercover area as well, but if you come prepared for a bit of rain you'll be fine and will still find it worth attending.
I'm looking forward to next year and hope that it will continue to be a major show on the outdoor calendar.
Well done the organisers and exhibitors.
Photo's to follow when I get home.![]()
