    Default Cracked tent pole...

    Hi Everyone,

I've got a Khyam Biker Tent (which I absolutely love) and when checking the tent today I found that one of the sections in the flexible pole has cracked.

It's one of the sections in the middle. I can still pitch the tent, but the flexing of the pole could worsen the crack and split the section entirely...

I'm going to try to tape the pole, but maybe someone has a suggestion?

    Let me know!

    Many thanks,

    JB

If you mean one of the locking poles, you can buy spares from any Kyham dealer. I broke one years ago on my Igloo. Replacement means pushing the old one down and out of the plastic centre piece, which takes some doing but is possible. I don't remember it being expensive, but it was a few years ago.

I would assume the flexible pole held together by elastic would also be available as a spare.

I have always been put off the biker/igloo because of these poles and the plastic joints.... are they a problem as I still keep reading about failures?

I've got two Kyhams, had one for at least 14 years, the other for about 3 years and only broke the one pole, other than that they have stood up in all weathers with no damage, not even broken any of the rubbers that the pegs go through.

I think the broken pole may have been something I did when packing it up, as it was only discovered when I was checking it before going away.

    thanks.

Buggles I have been chatting with Khyam about supplying us with tents for the team next year and one thing they guy mentioned that may interest you was they now sell all the spares online through 'tentspares.co.uk'... i also got the hint that prices had dropped for them too!

The same happened with our awning poles, i found that electrical insulating tape worked best, wind it as tight as you can around the whole section length.

    Hi

Gaffa tape always works. i have fixed many tent poles with it many times due to being in severe weather.
LSR (lancashire sports repairs) based in lancashire, is a company that fixs outdoor equipment for reasonable prices. individual tent poles cost £4 not including postage and packaging. i have recommended this company to a friend at work he got his walking boot resoled for £37. he was over the moon. it saved him from buying from new.
    I definetley recommend them
