    Default Tent Repair

    Hi Guys,

Went camping a few weeks ago and we had extreme weather, very windy and lots of rain!

Anyway, we have a very small split in the tent, only a 1-2 cm. I could put gaffer tape over it but the tent manufacturer has provided small squares of the same material for repairs.

What do you do with them? Stitch it or glue it?

Also the strong winds actually bent a few of the carbon-fibre poles. I was thinking of taking them apart and putting the bent ones on last so they no longer go through the tent. Seems a good idea before replacing them.

    Any help appreciated.

My lad managed to rip my Khyam Biker, luckily at the front out of any major area's. Why don't they take care of stuff they borrow. Arrggh.

I got him to buy me a repair kit from Millets which came with material which was glue backed in different colours. I used a double patch on either side and it looked pretty good when done. And has been used once in rain and it hasn't leaked.

As to your poles, sounds sensible, but no real experience myself I'm afraid.

Thanks for the info. I'll look on Millets site.

We're off camping again this weekend, 'The Black Bull Caravan Park' in Pickering. There's a summer fair on, but will we get any sun?!

Its worth trying tenacious tape, its a clear matt finish tape which is more or less invisible when applied. You can get it from most camping stores, best to go for the roll rather than the patches though.
