Default Vango Mirco 200

I'm keen to speak to anyone who has or had a Vango Micro 200 (or 100)..

After a lot of hunting around i have finally found a tent that fits my uses 99% which is fan-dabby-dozie

good news was over fairly quickly though as after 10 years of making this model vango dropped the design in 2008 in favor of the bigger/more complex/...and of course DEARER tent they push to the DoE followers.

At its demise the design seams to be near perfect in its light, simple, good pack size and made from good materials... they even made it in not just the colours i wanted but the exact shade

Khyam picked up the design (sold as the 'Compact') but they have done a hatchet job on the material spec to sell it silly cheap (RRP £50) with deals at just £30 available, for me the quality is too cheap so thats no use.

So if anyone has one or has had one, either the early spec or late, either the 1 man or 2 man i would like to hear about how you get/got on with it.

At the minute i am considering have a 'new' version made with latest materials (ally pre-bent poles, hh ripstop fly and nysil/noseeum etc etc) as it seems the only option left.

Do you mean a TBS 100/200 micro? I have a 200.

It goes up easy, the material is good except for the pegging system - 2 of the corner straps that pull out the groundsheet and lift the flysheet have broken. Easy repair but still shouldn't Break. The pole is not that easy to slide through either having two distinct shoulders. The TBS SYSTEM MAKES IT VERY STABle in wind. The door also opens nice and wide Although the porch is small. The 200 is better as a one man.

You will know it is a small tent and I found it too small. The inner touched my face and feet were always prssed against the fabric - cue wet bag and cold feet. But I am 6'3". I assume you are not so you may not have the same problem. In fact the small interior and the claustrophobia it was inducing whenever I used it was the main factor in me buying a tipi. I have donated It to my son now. He uses it with his girlfriend and has no complaints - from girlfriend or about the tent

I paid about £80 6 or 7 years ago and think it is stonking value.

thats wee beastie Austin.

They are dinky, I want them as a 'one man one bike' tent but yes the 100 is to small to be any real use unless your the size of an umpha loompa, have you got the later one with the raised end?

I had the two man one,the earlier model without the raised end.To be honest I found it too small,I am 5ft 10.I also found it needed pitching very carefully to get as much space inside as possible.Having hard luggage on the bike helped as I could keep as much stuff as possible in the panniers rather than in the tent. The later model should help to keep the inner off your face and feet.
I have used a cheapo Vango Delta 200 for the last few years and have found it fine, although a slightly larger porch would be useful when it's wet.
