It's worth checking the sizes and looking at other canopies as you'll probably find something that will not be a million miles away. However you'd be taking a punt I guess if you find something similar.

They're like gold dust - I know, I've been looking for about 4 years! Sadly, I happen to think the older version of the XL is far better than the new or I would have bought the newer version with extension a long time ago. However, that's not how it is. As a result, I'm looking to see what options might meet the bill pretty closely. In particular I have contacted Outwell indirectly to see exactly why the new style doesn't fit the older tent. I wouldn't expect a close fit but it seemed possible that the new one might do a job, moreso than any other options re canopies etc, if not look actually look like it. Anyway, here's their response:

If the customer purchases this product, I will not accept it back if it does not fit. The differences are as follows. The 2007 model is 170cm wide on the front porch whereas the extension is 200cm the extension is designed to attaché to a gothic porch pole which is 217 at the highest point whereas the 2007 model is about 180/190 cm, the shape of the poles are different as a result. If the extension is fitted please note that it may rub against part of the tent as the angles will be different from that of the tent.

Hello, and thanks for replying. I would be grateful if you would have a chat to the Outwell rep as you suggest. I know the stock answer is that it won***8217;t fit ***8211; what I need to understand is why, and then I can decide what to go out and buy. This could be a general purpose porch, tarp or similar, but if the new Hartford extension will overlap the porch on my 2007 Hartford, that***8217;d be preferable. So this is not a cosmetic thing so much as being able to have some further cover when I open the front door. It doesn***8217;t have to be an ***8220;integrated solution***8221; or whatever, just to provide extra cover ***8211; hence my need to understand exactly what is meant by ***8220;it won***8217;t fit!***8221;.

What really amazes me is that, given the demand for this porch, Outwell seem oblivious to the marketing potential, old tent or not!! Possibly their weakness as the tents are great.
