    Default large family tent recomendations

    Hi there

Just a quick introduction, we are Max and Karen , we're a family of 5. Our three littluns are 5,7 and 9. Karen has been camping before and was very much into it, the last time i went i was 8 i'm now 35.

Ok now you have an idea of us this is what we............or i am looking for:-

I'm looking for a very spacious, central section and large sleeping areas in a tent, we would like the tent to be Poly cotton as last Sunday when we viewed Sprayway and other tents we found the Poly cotton to be the most comfortable in high temperatures and also I (Max) would be looking for a 9-10+ berth, maybe pod tent so we could give the 2 boys a pod, 1 for our daughter and then a large or 2 pods in one for us. Also an extra pod on top for storage wouldn't go amiss and hopefully an awning

    Are we asking to much?

    Moved it for you.

As for the tent poly cotton is certainly the way to go if you can make the investment. As you say it's a much nicer environment and should outlast the nylon tents. My 17 year old son is still using the same ridge tent with the explorer scouts I used when I was a nipper and it was old then. The tent must be the best part of 50 years old and still as good as new. I can't imagine any nylon tent taking 50 years of abuse from a bunch of boys.

Outwell springs to mind as a quality cotton tent manufactures and I'm sure DaveS will be along in a moment as he has one.
I went to the zoo recently. The only animal there was a small dog. It was a shihtzu

I've been searching over the net about the tent that you really like, but its really hard to find a tent that's a poly cotton.

I've not long bought an Outwell tent and it's cracking. I can't remember seeing any poly cotton tents when we were looking. Bought it from GoOutdoors. They have a good selection on show at good prices.

found this tent, it's polycotton but not a pod tent and only a 6 berth.

ok, you have a big ask (for a big tent there!!) but a couple of thoughts, from a Canvas convert - though being minimalist campers we fit our family of 4 into a 4 berth Pyramid tent and cook under a tarp . . .

for limited budget you could get a big Canvas Frame tent - £200 or so would get you a minty Cabanon Aruba/Athena off ebay at this time of year. If you must then add a day or kitchen tent but Aruba/Athena are pretty big. Top quality canvas, will last years if you buy a good one, and you could sell it for what you paid any time

Another place to look is Obelink.nl Plenty of proper Canvas there and some huge tents, Avantgarde is a beauty, Explorer and Korfu 6 are great too - amazing prices for what you get (by UK standards) but not as big as you think you need, and you would probably have to collect as Obelink dont deliver the huge tents to UK due to courier weight restrictions. But Shiply might help you out there

Only UK tents I know of that come close to your wish are the bigger Kampa ones. Polzeath is Poly, not sure of the rest - good luck
