cooking question.

We have just purchased a new tent and cooker with stand. The instructions state that we should not use the cooker with anything over head. Does this mean all our cooking needs to be done outside? I know it's a silly question but i'd hate to get it wrong and burn the tent or gas ourselves!!!
While i'm on here and good recipes?

Hi Andy,

Personally, I cook under our tent porch giving about 4ft of clearance, but as far away as I can from the main tent. You need loads of ventilation to get rid of gas fumes but also be carefull of the heat rising and burning/damaging the tent. I've had no problems but I do try to be carefull, and hey, what do I know???

Anybody with more skill/knowledge got any better advice????

I've just got back from 4 days camping and we cooked under the tent, however the tent has a mesh window at the back to let the fumes, heat etc out, this window then has a cover that can be zipped down at night. I think a lot depends on the style of the tent.

If your tent has a window, you can put it right there to ventilate the gas fumes. But, if you want to avoid some burnings or mess at your tent, then I think you should really cook outside.
