Default Buying a new lightweight tent ???

hi every1, really glad I found this site before I made any purchase on any new tent, good idea to get some feedback or info, the tent I was looking at was the terra nova laser 2 man tent, (£250) and was wondering if there was a better tent I could be buying for the money?, I really need a lightweight tent as im doing the west highland way for a charity and I want to be packing as light as possible, so what I really need is a 2 man lightweight tent, double skin, waterproof just incase, any information is most welcome, as there is something that is stopping me making that purchase for that tent, maybe I can get a better 1 for the £250???. any help would be great, tyvm.

    Hiya Newguy
I'm affraid I can't help in that price range, I'm off tomorrow for a few days camping & canoeing and its the 1st time I'll have used my new 2 man but seeing as mine will either go on the motor bike or in the canoe weight wasn't such an issue just size and static head of pressure for me so I looked at those around the £50.00 mark.
I'm sure someone will be along shortly with some advice.
    Good luck with the walk.

Hi there, welcome to the site. I've had a Macpac lightweight tent that has lasted me years and has done many miles mountaineering in all weathers, it is great for one and does fit 2 at a squeaze but you do need to be quite friendly with your camping partner .

i've got a terra nova laser competition, 860g. it's really a 1-man tent, VERY lightweight but survives OK in 3-season weather. If you're going 2-up you need to be good friends! I took mine on the bike 2-up to spain last summer, bit of a squeeze but it worked fine and was better than lugging a bigger tent around. I don't expect it to last very long. If you pitch it under tension to stop the skin flapping in strong wind, the WEAK zipper is put under strain.

Plus: weight, size good for the weight, got mine cheap as a repaired return.
Minus: price, zip is made of cheese, carbon fibre pegs split in hard ground (replace with titanium skewers)

    Default lite weight tents

for the money and quality the terra nova lazer is hard to beat. I use a voyager which I would happily change for a lazer as its (a) lighter, (b) side access into the tent making it far more comforatble. If youre only sleeping in it by yourself look at the lazer comp, half the weight again and equally as good, but only a one person tent, in the same price range

i've not seen the terra nova laser but I did get a Gelert 2 man tent which I'm really pleased with - very lightweight.

I found this website camping accessories which has got a good range of prices - might be worth a look?

    Good luck!

    Default Lightweight tent

    Hi,

Its worth checking out the Robens tents. A friend has the Robens fortress and its excellent but a little bit more at £300 but you may be able to do a deal.

    Good luck

    Default Choice of tent

Buying a new lightweight tent ???-ultra-fit-tent.jpg
Bought this Ultra tent for touring 2 up on the bike but when I took in canoeing realised its short falls, the main one being size and lack of porch for bike gear and wet stuff, fortunately it was cheap so nothing lost really, the grand children can use it in the garden
I already had a Blacks Lomand tent all I had to do was figure a way to fix it to the bike
Buying a new lightweight tent ???-bike-loaded-tent.jpg Top box rack made and fitted...problem solved
Buying a new lightweight tent ???-lomand-tent.jpg A brilliant tent, easy to erect, outer 1st
Buying a new lightweight tent ???-lomand-inside.jpgplenty of room for the 2 of us and loads of space in the porch for all our gear keeping it separate from the sleeping area and if it wet the dry clothes.
Cost me about £200 6 years ago when I bought it for my son when he got too "old" to sleep with us in the caravan.
I thought it was expensive at the time now realise it was worth every penny, once again the old adage is true...... you get what you pay for
The real comfort though is when we take off in the MitsubishiBuying a new lightweight tent ???-nomad-2-2.jpg
