    Default Khyam Igloo

    Hi All,

Well the Devil made me do it....

I just had to visit BCH camping to see what they had in their sale.......

Walked away with a Khyam Igloo for £125

I've been thinking about one of these for a while as a weekend tent for myself and my 10 year old son.
I wanted something tried and tested, and good quality, with room for us both and some to spare.
Another factor was, it needed to be reasonably quick to put up, and I must be able to put it up on my own if need be.

First impressions are good, pack size is quite large at 30" long by 28"dia. but it's still manageable.
It comes with a DVD to show how you how to put it up, so before I get too carried away, I'm going to watch the video and then take it into the garden for a play.....

Watch this space for an update

Well done on your buy. You got it at a great price. I know someone on the xrv forum has one and he thinks it's and excellent piece of kit.

I'll look forward to hearing how you get on.
I went to the zoo recently. The only animal there was a small dog. It was a shihtzu

I've had an igloo for about 12 years now. I bought the 'Biker' a few years ago, because of the porch, the Igloo has more room inside the sleeping compartment though.

The Igloo still gets lent out occasionally, still working fine.

BCH have got some "Bikers" in their sale as well, but I'm afraid I can't remember how much.....

I was looking at these as well, but I've got bigger tents already and was looking to go smaller/easier.
I will probably look at rigging up some form of tarp to give me a bit of a porch as shelter when needed.

Looking forward to getting the tent up in the garden when I finish these mad shifts!!!!

Good choice, you will not regret it. They used to recommend sealing the seams on the inside tent but I gather it is no longer necessary... But, it may be worth getting some seam sealant and treating the points where the flysheet connects to the inner tent.

The built in groundsheet is pretty good I have found, but wise to get a groundsheet for it. I think I paid about 15-20 quid for my fitted sheet.

I still remember the first time that I erected the tent in the garden, my lad was coming out to "help" me and took a couple of minutes to get outside, by which time it was up! As a Scout, he felt that the tent was a "travesty"! He knew a tent took at least 10 mins to pitch with two people...

    Thanks for the advice

Good old Mr. Khyam has included a little bag of goodies with seam sealer, repair tape and various toggles etc in with the tent!!!!

I got a footprint for it as well (£21) as due to the shape, I thought it'd be easier than trying to make something else fit, and this should do the porch ends as well!!!!

I'm hoping to get in the garden with it tomorrow...

I have the Biker. Brilliant tent... done me well for a few years now.
Me and lad have used it quite a bit, nearly as good as my Tipi.

I read something this a few weeks ago but I heard it was the distributors Eurotech Leisure that had gone belly up.

I also picked the snippet below up from the internet

S.W.A.C.K Outdoor Brands Limited has secured the licence to exclusively distribute in the UK all Khyam products from Outdoor Brand Management Limited who acquired the brand from Eurotech Leisure Limited (In Administration).

SWACK Outdoor Brands Limited will continue to produce, wholesale and market Khyam products to its UK retail customers and continues all warranty and guarantees on all of its Khyam products sold prior to Administration and subsequently."

So it looks like we will still be getting Khyam tents for a while yet.
