    Default Outwell Norfolk Lake

Well time to post a review of our family tent the Outwell Norfolk Lake.

We were looking for a family tent and wanted something that was top quality and would last us.
After visiting a few tent exhibitions I really liked the Outwell Bear Lake range. They looked fantastic but the only issue was the front wasn't enclosed.
I loved the polycotton thick style and after chatting with a few people who raved about the tents, started to look at what was available that was bigger.

The Norfolk Lake came up and looked a great match for what we needed. It's not as good a looker as the Bear Lake but it's wonderfully functional.

It has huge amounts of room and we can separate the bedrooms, living space and kitchen. The down side is that the packed tent is huge, but its really solid when up and we can erect it in about 45 mins now.
It has all mod cons and is great quality.

We've just ordered the side extension for this season, so that should make the inclement weather a bit easier to bear when going in and out.

Here's some pics of ours pitched.
Quite happy to advise on ownership or take any other photo's if you want.

Just don't camp it near the coast during a war...the other side would bomb it thinking it was a submarine pen!!!!

Ha! Yes it does look a bit like that, but it's absolutely rock solid. Great design and with the polycotton it doesn't move in high winds.

Default Kath - question about Norfolk Lake

we lost our side poles for Norfolk Lake. Need dimensions so we can improvise. Length, diameter please if anyone has them handy. I predict high winds this holiday! Or - has any one got a contact number for spares for Outwell? Thanks Kath

    Hi Kath,

There is an alternative to the original poles and that is a pair of adjustable one's. Go Outdoors do them for under £10.00 as I am sure most places do. They are telescopic and have a small thumb screw to secure them in place which allows you to adjust them to what ever height you need. We use them on our NL as they can be made higher than the original which is good for me as at 6'4" the old ones where a bit short.

    Hi Kath,

Sorry just realised I got the wrong end of the stick here and you mean the extendable poles that are part of the tents framework dont you ? If this is what your after let me know asap as I know GO in Oxford have a damaged Norfolk at the minute and I may be able to get the poles if I have the right one's this time !!

Hi Kath , did you get your pole problem sorted , as I was talking to a dealer this week who said they can get spare side ones for the Norfolk lake from Outwell , they are not cheap though at £80 a pair.

Having bought a Maryland Xl earlier in the year and at first being happy with it , it soon became apparent that this tent has a design fault with it (reading a few other posts from other campsite forums) including mine.Anyway after many emails both to Outwell and the dealer we bought the tent from it was agreed to give me a refund for it .

After doing a lot of reading and looking at as many reviews as possible I can now say , I am a very happy owner of a new Norfolk Lake and side extension which I am really pleased about as most people seem to rate them rather highly , they have now been discontinued and will not be in the 2010 line up so we are really happy we have managed to get one before they sell out.
