I recently bought this tent from halfords and have been on 2 short camping trips, the second being a total disaster. we were in 80mph winds an nearly had no tent left. After getting the tent down we noticed a massive tear right across the tent! should this happen i thought they are able to withstand anything????

I suppose it depends on the weather really. if you haven't had it that long take it back and complain.

We've all had at least one BAD wind experience...fond memories of cold, wet misery. I love the "idea" of a quick and easy tent but the reality sometimes doesn't live up. You may want to research small caravans, I love mine.
