Just to add my thoughts - this is definately my favourite tent to date. Very light weight and easy to erect. The crossovers give fantatic resistance to high wind. I have re-waterproofed - not because I needed to but I wanted to make sure I prolonged its life as it is a tent I hope to use for many years to come. There is plenty of space for 2 with a good sized porch.

    Top value

I have one of these as well. use it for camping trips on rallies.

What i love is it always goes back in the bag like the way it came out. to try and do this with a cheaper tent is a pain.

Not only that it fits a double airbed and has a seperate porch

My only grumble is the flysheet in the porch is slightly too big so if you dont adjust the straps each time water runs off the side into the porch and all over your stuff. its a great piece of kit well worth the money

Do you mean the groundsheet in the porch is a little large? If so I can imagine that to be a problem if the wind and rain conspire against you.

The porch ground sheet is held in with a zip and a couple of plastic buckles so you could just unclip the corner and fold back an inch or so on the few occasions it's a problem.

Of course if you adjust the straps properly then it isn't a problem except in the most extreme conditions
I went to the zoo recently. The only animal there was a small dog. It was a shihtzu

I usually just unclip the porch groundsheet at the porch end when inside the main tent and roll it up a bit to protect it from the elements - but will agree it seems like a bit of an issue - only fault I can think of though.

I use mine for rallys on my scooter so i need to store stuff init.
I did not have to adjust the straps for ages but now everytime and it seems only to give you a cm past not getting soaked

I was thinking of buying one of these to replace a North Face Tent. Its called a Lunafire, but is the same as the Tadpole. Its still in very good condition, but does not have much of a porch. This one looks really good.

    It is.
A couple of years on and loads of use it's still a smashing tent. Highly recommended.

If you can get 3 in it, it should be perfect for my 8 year old son and myself. What is the head height, say compared to the Phad 2?

I have just purchased this tent for £115 from Amazon and erected the tent for the first time at home. My first impressions are very good. Please follow link for photos and info. MobileMe Gallery Having had a North Face Tadpole/Lunafire, I would say the poles once inserted into the tent, are much harder to push up. Its best to push up the shorter Red cross pole first. The other main 2 poles are very long and with the weight of the tent, they feel as though they are going to bend if you try to push these up on your. So red tipped one always first.
The ventilation on this tent is superb, with 2 at the side and 1 at the front just above the opening window on the porch. It also has 2 low level air vents inside the inner tent ether side of the front door in black. They have velcro closures on them.
Another nice feature is the inner tent door storage pocket. It also has a mini pocket ideal for a mobile phone on it. It has numerous other pockets within the inner tent too.
One thing that was missing is a hanging loop for a light.
Overall a good quality tent for the money.

I agree with your findings. It seems the newer ones are a bit trickier to get the long poles in and that was certainly the case on the one I tried compared to to the older one I have. The zipper tabs on the small openable section at the top of the main inner door makes an excellent lantern hanger as it's pretty much right above your head so great for reading.
